The word Rimba means great wilderness or forest on the indonesian language. Strategically located besides the orangutan sanctuary, the lodge is simple, clean and comfortable. Its Dayak achitecture, spaciousness and airiness as well as bright surroundings combined to give you an enormous feeling of serenity and harmony with nature. There are 15 river-edge bedrooms and 20 rooms inland, all with teak bathroom. The Restaurant is superb and catered successfully for the hundred delegates who attended the great apes conference. In addition you can cool yourself in the lock-enclosed traditional swimming pool with the small current of the sekonyer river flowing below you or paddle a canoe (provided to the guests of each room) along the banks of the scenic Sekonyer river.
How to get there
The RIMBA LODGE is located on the Sekonyer River near the village of Tanjung Harapan in the province of Kalimantan Tengah (central Borneo). The closest towns are Kumai and Pangkalan Bun has an airport . Pangkalan Bun is served by flights four times per week from Jakarta via Ketapang, West Kalimantan (flight time three hours ) the airlines serving Pangkalan Bun include Merpati, Bouraq, DAS and Deraya Air Taxi. Upon arrival in Pangkalan Bun airport, please go to the Rimba Lodge desk or go directly to The Rimba Lodge’s sister hotel in Pangkalan Bun , the Blue Kecubung Hotel. Arrangements will be made for transport to the Rimba Lodge.
